We carry out annual testing on below and over ground tanks to help prevent future problems, as well as tank removal services.
We like to be pro-active
Our team recognises the importance of tank testingand we pride ourselves on being pro-active and reminding our clients of the benefits of testing and record keeping. Leaks can happen when you move fuel to and from your storage facilities, and you should develop operation control measures to prevent spills or leaks during:
The delivery of liquid hydrocarbon product
During the storage of liquid fuel
When dispensing fuel
(e.g. customers filling up their car)
When removing waste from the site through drains
During maintenance and repairs
Below ground
tank testing
We carry out annual testing on below ground tanks to help prevent future problems with the site.
The testing is conducted with a low-pressure precision test. This is a non-destructive test and involves sealing off the tank apertures and pressurising with nitrogen (oxygen-free) to 200MB. The pressure is then monitored for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, and the pressure trend recorded.
A falling pressure trend indicates a leak, whilst a static pressure trend indicates the vessel is tight. This test is applied to the tank and associated pipe-work. The result will give a conclusion on each individual component. The process and the equipment used are accredited to USEPA standards.
Above ground tank inspections
As well as the tanks below ground, it is equally important that the above ground tanks are also inspected using an ultrasonic thickness device that will highlight any weakness in the steel structure.
